Perilya aims to create a learning organisation with a particular emphasis on developing strong leadership at all levels.
Perilya employs more than 680 people and around 200 contractors in Broken Hill, Kalgoorlie and Perth.
All of the company’s operations are residential, as opposed to fly-in fly-out and thus are more stable.
Perilya’s focus is on its people. The Perilya Employee Share Acquisition Plan was launched in 2006 to recognise and encourage employees for their ongoing contribution to the company’s future success.
In its first year, the Plan has been taken up by about 60 per cent of Perilya employees - and has become an unprecedented and welcome success.
Perilya recognises the importance of local communities in its operating areas, in particular, offering employment for the local people and therefore becoming a mining operation of choice and a valued local employer.
Work/lifestyle balance is important for the ongoing wellbeing of employees and their families.
Perilya knows this and to create this balance has implemented initiatives such as a working roster of five days on, five days off for underground operations and trade employees; provision of residential housing for a number of employees and their families; flexible and part time work arrangements where appropriate; a confidential counselling service for employees and their families.
